Miller, 2-2 with a 4.58 ERA in 39 1/3 innings, faced two batters in Friday's 18-17 loss to the Colorado Rockies, giving up two runs on a walk and a hit.
Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez said he noticed something was wrong with Miller's delivery when he came out to pitch the seventh inning.
"We knew there was something not right. When he went out there and he's yanking pitches, and it's right away, something's wrong," Gonzalez said. "He's shut down. He'll get reevaluated either in San Diego or when we fly back to South Florida."
Last year Miller was 5-0 with a 3.65 ERA in 61 2/3 innings for the Marlins.
"Last year was unbelievable. He was solid," Gonzalez said. "You see glimpses of him, you think something's not there. He soaked up a lot of innings last year, hopefully it's just inflammation."
Lindstrom is 1-1 with a 5.18 ERA in 30 games with the Marlins this year. He was sent to Triple-A on June 24 and appeared in three games, recording a 9.00 ERA in four innings.
