Reds put Freel (hamstring) on DL, recall Patterson

CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Reds placed Ryan Freel on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday and recalled outfielder Corey Patterson from Triple-A Louisville.

Freel strained his right hamstring in Tuesday night's game in Philadelphia and returned to Cincinnati for evaluation.

Patterson started the season with the Reds and batted .200 in 45 games -- with a .240 on-base percentage as a leadoff hitter -- before he was optioned to Louisville last week.

The Reds also sent outfielder Drew Anderson outright to Louisville.
