ARLINGTON, Texas -- Tampa Bay closer Troy Percival is expected to throw a simulated game Monday or Tuesday in Anaheim, and could be closing games again by the end of the week.

Rays manager Joe Maddon said Percival's rehab from a pulled left hamstring is on target. Percival has been on the disabled list since May 29, and is eligible to return Friday. The Rays don't anticipate the right-hander needing a rehabilitation stint in the minors.

"This is one guy that can throw a strike even if he hasn't been pitching, so I'm not worried about his command," Maddon said Sunday before the Rays played the finale of their series in Texas. "Just with workouts and throwing on the side, he's able to keep his command, which is unusual."

Percival, 1-0 with 14 saves in 16 chances and a 2.95 ERA, limped off the mound during the ninth inning of a home game against the Rangers. An MRI exam revealed no significant damage.

The four-time All-Star has 338 career saves, 10th on the all-time list.
