The left-hander is on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained elbow. He felt discomfort while warming up for an intrasquad game on Feb. 26 and has not pitched in the majors yet.

Kazmir started for Vero Beach in the Florida State League and gave up four runs and seven hits, including two home runs, against Palm Beach. Tampa Bay hopes the reigning AL strikeout champion can start either May 3-4 against Boston.

"Threw all his pitches," Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon said before Wednesday night's game with Toronto. "He came through it very well."

Kazmir went 13-9 with a 3.48 ERA last season. He is scheduled to make another rehab start for Triple-A Durham on Monday.
